HMP Castle Huntly is proud to announce a new partnership with Tayside Contracts, to offer structured work placements for individuals in custody who are nearing the end of their sentence.

These placements will provide real-world experience in Construction, Facilities Management, and Catering - helping those in custody build skills, foster personal responsibility, and prepare for life beyond prison.

Participants will be supported by Tayside Contracts’ experienced training and operational teams, ensuring they gain the practical and interpersonal skills needed for long-term employment.

By working with employability partners, we aim to create more opportunities that support individuals in custody to build a positive future, and reduce the likelihood of reoffending.

Marcus Whitehead, Head of Offender Outcomes at HMP Castle Huntly, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Tayside Contracts, and expanding the range of work placements available to those in our care at HMP Castle Huntly.
“Work placements are crucial for people in custody as they allow for a managed and supported reintegration into the community, which, ultimately, gives them a better chance for success when they are released.”

Councillor Steven Rome, Convener of the Tayside Contracts Joint Committee, said: “Research consistently shows that access to employment is one of the key factors in successful rehabilitation. By offering low-risk prisoners the chance to work with an established, reputable employer like Tayside Contracts, the partnership helps bridge the gap between the prison environment and gaining fulfilling employment.
“The partnership is a reflection of Tayside Contracts’ ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in the community, whilst providing second chances for those looking to turn their lives around.”
