The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) operates in a fascinating, complex and rapidly changing environment. Our vision is to help build a safer Scotland by unlocking potential and transforming lives. To enable us to successfully deliver our vision, we are committed to nurturing and investing in our greatest strength and resource: Our People.

We are proud to employ a diverse range of people; each contributing their own unique experiences and skills to enhance the service we deliver. Whatever the role, you will find your SPS experience both challenging and rewarding. You will be committed to helping us to achieve our goals and in return we will be committed to helping you to achieve yours.

Upcoming Improvements to Our Recruitment Experience

We are pleased to share that we are introducing a new digital recruitment system which will offer candidates a more streamlined, user‑friendly, and efficient application experience. To support this transition, there will be a short period during which no new vacancies will be advertised.

If you have previously registered on our current recruitment system, please take this opportunity to download any information you wish to keep - including copies of past applications - as existing records will not transfer to the new platform.

Once our new system is live, from beginning of March 2026, we encourage you to register on it and take advantage of its improved features, including quicker applications, better visibility of your progress, and enhanced communication throughout the recruitment process.

Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements, and we look forward to welcoming your application soon.
