THE theme of this year’s Prisoner Week will be ‘Crossroads – What Next?’, it has been revealed.

The announcement was made at a special event held by the Prisoners Week Trust, at HMP Castle Huntly on 19 May.

Reverend Anne Stewart, of the planning committee, said the theme reflected both the critical junction in prisoners own lives and the wider position of the justice landscape.

“Not only are individuals in prison at a crossroads in their lives, but so too are the policy makers as they face big questions of the future direction of the criminal justice system, in the face of overcrowding and the pressures this brings,” she said.

“This year’s theme encourages us all to consider what the way ahead may look like.”

Those attending the launch included singer Barbara Dickson, patron of the Prisoners Week Trust; Chris Johnston, Independent Prison Monitors coordinator for the North region; Susan Thorburn, of Perth Presbytery, and Barrie Simpson, the Deputy Governor of HMP Castle Huntly, along with Prisoners Week trustees and members of the planning committee.

This year’s Prisoners Week will runs from 16 to 23 November 2025 and more information is available here.
