SPS, Police Scotland and charities Aid & Abet, and Fearless, have worked together to warn young people about the dangers of knife crime.

Staff and people in our care at HMP Perth and HMP&YOI Polmont produced a powerful video and voice recordings, which were used as part of Knife Crime Awareness events in three Perthshire secondary schools.

The young people heard first hand from real life offenders who shared their own personal experiences of knife crime and its consequences. They also heard from victims' families and were given advice on what to do and who to contact if they need help, or to share information.

Tom Martin, Head of Offender Outcomes at HMP Perth said: “We are committed to doing all we can to support people, reduce the risk of crime, and help build safer communities.
“We were delighted to work with partners in Perth and Kinross Council and Police Scotland on this important initiative, and particularly pleased that some those in our care had an opportunity to share their stories, so young people can learn from their experiences.”
