The First Minister John Swinney has officially opened the Toyota Training Academy within HMP Perth - the first of its kind inside a Scottish prison.
Delivered by Dundee and Angus College, the automotive training programme gives candidates the opportunity to learn practical skills and gain industry-recognised qualifications. Over ten weeks, they cover skills such as wiring, soldering, valeting and engine rebuild.
This programme is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) which aims to increase life chances and improve communities by investing in high quality skills training and opportunities.
Toyota (GB) have generously donated tools, equipment and a vehicle for the trainees to work on. They have also committed to supporting employment opportunities for those who have completed the programme in their dealerships throughout Scotland.
