Low Moss Employability Event

On Friday 13th March, an employability event will take place at HMP Low Moss. There will be an address by Chief Executive, Colin McConnell, followed by talks from various employers and partners.

The event is in partnership with BASE (British Association for Supported Employment) and up to 25 specialist providers, employers, specialist recruitment agencies and organisations set up to support employers to navigate around the Rehabilitation of Offenders act and Disclosure requirements thus overcoming the barriers to work.

There will be discussions around interviews and more, and attendees will be given a tour of the activities area. In the afternoon stakeholders, prisoners and employers will take place in a World Café style event where they will move around tables talking with various employers and stakeholders.

The event will also feature the launch of the WAMITAB (Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board) initiative within Low Moss with the priority focus to support ex-offenders to turn their lives around through achieving industry standard qualifications, purposeful work whilst in custody and provide opportunities to progress either into work or further study upon release.
