Opening of New Multi-Faith Centre at HMP Castle Huntly

On Monday 24th November, the new Multi-Faith Centre opened at HMP Castle Huntly.

The new centre, that has already hosted a remembrance service and a coffee morning, has been nicknamed “the Shack”. The new centre houses several rooms for services, prayers and smaller discussions, as well as access to a garden space with memorials.

Governor Jacqueline Clinton said “All who live and work in Castle Huntly Open prison are delighted with the new facility and grateful for the opportunities it will provide us to work together to bring about positive change. For the first time, we have a space that feels like a community hub and we will use it for activities that encourage community spirit and citizenship. The Chaplaincy team now have a wonderful resource from where they can play their part in helping prisoners flourish and reconnect to society.”
