Help with the costs of Prison Visits

The 'Help with prison visit scheme' can provide support with the cost of visiting someone in prison. They can help towards one visit every two weeks and payment can be made to your bank account.

Advanced payment applications can also be made.

Air Discount Scheme

The Air Discount Scheme provides residents of Shetland, Orkney, the Western Isles, Islay, Jura, Colonsay, Caithness and north-west Sutherland with a 50% discount on the core air fare on eligible services.
The aim of the scheme is to tackle the problem of high air fares in the most peripheral parts of the Highlands and Islands region of Scotland and to improve social inclusion in the areas it covers.

 

Young Persons (under 22) Free Bus Travel

Once you have your National Entitlement Card (NEC) or Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC) you can travel on most buses right across Scotland.

Scottish Welfare Fund

The Scottish Welfare Fund is made up of 2 different grants.

•    Crisis Grant – to help with an unexpected emergency like a fire or flood, losing your money or your job
•    Community Care Grant – to help you or someone you care for to start to live, or to carry on living, a settled life in the community.


To apply for a grant from the Scottish Welfare Fund you must be:
•    16 or older
•    on a low income or getting certain benefits
