Rewards, Benefits and Recognition
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) recognise that our employees have varying requirements and aspirations. We have designed a package of benefits and rewards that provide great choices whatever employees’ circumstances are now, and however they may change in the future.
Pay
SPS offers competitive salaries, including pay progression arrangements within grades. SPS is proud to say we were recognised as a Living Wage employer, and received our accreditation in August 2016.
Current SPS employees can access their Payslip online via the following link:
iPayview
We are committed to continuing to ensure that all of our employees are paid at least the Living Wage – which is significantly higher than the minimum wage - and to encourage all contractors who provide services to the SPS to pay their employees at least the Living Wage. http://www.livingwage.org.uk/
Pensions
SPS offers a choice of two pension schemes - a career average defined benefit scheme (Alpha) and a stakeholder scheme (Partnership). More details can be found on the Civil Service website.
Employee Savings
Employees at SPS can enjoy discounts and savings by taking advantage of high street and online discounts on a national basis.
The range of discounts on offer to SPS employees include:
-
family days out, trips and reduced price theme park tickets,
-
savings on fashion,
-
electrical items and discounted mobile phone contracts,
-
discounted cinema tickets including all the top chains,
-
offers on finance and insurance,
-
thousands of offers and discounts at high street shops, and much more.
Through our partners at Edenred, Blue Light Card and the Civil Service Sports Council, employees can enjoy a vast range of discounts and savings.
Give As You Earn to Charity
Give As You Earn is a straightforward way to make a direct gift from pay to chosen charities. If an employee makes a donation, SPS will deduct the chosen amount from earnings each month before tax is calculated, making the donation tax-free.
