I have forgotten my password, how can I log into my account?
You can request a password reminder by selecting 'password reminder' from the left hand menu on our Current Vacancies page. You will then receive a temporary password to your registered email address which you should use to log into your account. Please be careful if you are copying and pasting your temporary password and ensure that you don't copy an extra space at the end of the password.
When can I apply?
We advertise all our vacancies on our Current Vacancies page and you can apply during the application window of each vacancy. The timing of the advert will vary depending on the role and our needs. You can set up an account with us and register to receive notifications (job alerts) for any new roles we are advertising.
How can I create a job alert?
You can set up an account with us and register to receive notifications (job alert) when we advertise new vacancies. To set up your account and register for job alerts, please visit our Current Vacancies page and click on the 'Login' option from the menu. Once you have registered your personal details, select the 'Manage Job Alert' option from the menu to set up your preferred job alerts.
When will I be assigned?
If you have been successful in your application to become a Prison Officer we will undertake pre-employment checks. The pre-employment checks may take up to six weeks to complete and on conclusion of these checks, we will place you on a waiting list to be assigned. The length of time you will remain on the list pending assignment will depend on operational requirements and your location; the waiting time averages a few months but it may take up to 12 months. We will maintain regular contact with you during this period and will advise you as soon as we are in the position to offer you a start date.
I have a criminal conviction, can I still apply?
Yes, you may still be eligible to apply for employment with us if you have a criminal conviction. Please refer to our Criminal Convictions page (within the Working for the SPS section) for further information on your eligibility.
Is there an age restriction?
For our Prison Officer careers, you must be 18 years or older to apply. There is no minimum age limit for our other careers options. There is no upper age limit for any of our roles.
What will the selection process involve?
This will depend on the role that you have applied for; details of the selection process will accompany the job advert and will be made available to you during the process.
What is the fitness test?
The selection process for all Prison Officer roles includes a fitness test. You can access the fitness test standards and guidance on how to prepare for the fitness test on the Prison Officer Recruitment Process page which you will find within the Opportunities in the SPS section.
