Do SPS operate any performance bonus arrangements?

Yes.  Once you have completed your probationary period, if your performance throughout the performance year ‘consistently exceeds expectations’, you may qualify for a cash lump sum in addition to pay progression.  The current value of this payment for Pay Band C is £1,015 (pro-rata for part time staff).

SPS also operates a separate Special Bonus Scheme which allows one-off instances of exceptional performance to be rewarded.

How will I be compensated if I am required to work additional hours?

Additional hours of work may be required on occasion and will vary from post to post.

Additional hours worked will generally be compensated through the scheduling of time off at a later date.  This is known as Time Off In Lieu (TOIL).  From time to time SPS also operates an ex-gratia payment scheme for additional hours worked.  Where this applies, additional hours worked are paid at an enhanced rate per hour instead of TOIL.  Access to ex-gratia payments is subject to availability.

([1]) Pay progression arrangements in the SPS are set through collective bargaining and pay negotiations with the SPS and our recognised Trade Unions and may be subject to change. The pay progression structure outlined in this statement has been in place since October 2001.
