Greenock Prison - Visiting

 

How To Book Family/Friend Visit:

Greenock visits booking system is now computerised. On admission, all prisoners provide the names of all the adults and children, who will potentially visit them during their sentence. These names are entered on to the system and the Visitor phones and books the time and date of the visit. Only the individuals listed on the Prisoner visitor's list will be allowed access to Greenock during visit sessions. Visits staff will then inform the Prisoner that a visit has been booked for him.


Convicted prisoners are permitted 2 x (30 min) visits per week and untried are allowed one (30 min) visit every weekday and one at the weekend. (Either Saturday or Sunday.)

Visit Booking Office between 9.00am and 12.00pm (Mon to Fri) and 9.00am to 11.30am (Sat and Sun).

You can call on the day the visit is required or a maximum of two days in advance. (It is best to book in advance!

 

How To Book Agent Visit:

AGENTS VISITS TAKE PLACE BETWEEN 10.00 AM TILL 4.00 PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY ONLY

 

Visiting Guidelines:

All people visiting Prisoners may be required to present identification, this should include photographic e.g. Driving License, Passport, utilities bill, e.g. (gas, electric, phone) with name and home address of visitor. You should bring 2 forms of ID with you, one photographic and the other with your address.

Handing In Property/Money:

MONEY CAN BE HANDED IN DURING VISIT TIMES

The prisoner will send you a PROFORM prior to your visit, listing the approved items. The PROFORM must be handed to the Vestibule Officer on your arrival. Please note that only the items listed on the PROFORM can be accepted. Property will not be accepted without a PROFORM. No food or drink will be accepted.

All Radio/CD Players being handed in must not have recording facilities. All newspapers and magazines for offenders must be ordered from local newsagent (Londis, Barrs Cottage Inverkip Road, Tel. 01475 723768) who will deliver them. To locate this shop go out the main gate and turn left down the hill. At the foot of the hill, the shop is located to your right on the other side of the road. If regional papers are not available from this outlet, only those sent direct from the publishers will be accepted.

The items listed will be issued to the Prisoner at his own risk. H.M.P. Greenock will not be responsible or liable for loss or damage to the items. The privilege of having them in use may be withheld at the discretion of the Governor.

Complaints/Comments:

Complaints can be referred to the Visits I/C or the Operations Manager who will be on duty at that time or in writing to the Governor. You may also complete a Visitors Comments Form, which are available in the Visits Waiting Room. These will be passed to the FCDO Manager who will respond to any issues that you have raised.
