Roles within SPS

The SPS doesn't just employ Prison Officers - the delivery of our service also requires....

Administrators 

  •  Administrators and Administrative Assistants support a variety of functional areas including Human Resources (HR), Legal Services, Finance, Stores.

Facilities Maintenance/Trades

  • Trades people carry out programmed maintenance, day to day repairs and minor works throughout their area of responsibility. Designated roles include; Plumber, Electrician, Slater/Wet Trade, Joiner, Painter.

Specialists

  • Specialists provide a comprehensive support and specialist advisory service within key areas including HR, Training, Finance, Legal Services, Estates, Procurement, Catering, IT and Engineering/Technical, Health and Safety/Fire.

Managers

  • Managers formulate and deliver our strategic focus through operational leadership and policy development. Management roles can be found in HR, Employment Relations, Finance, Procurement, Estates, IT, Legal Services and Prisons.

Psychologists

  • Psychologists are responsible for risk assessment and support for, and development of, interventions aimed at assisting prisoners through relevant programmes. These roles range from practitioner to Senior Management level.

Pastoral Care

  • Chaplaincy advisors facilitate pastoral roles to meet the needs of spiritual care of all prisoners, of any faith or no faith.
