Positive Parenting Programme
This programme was developed by staff at Polmont who received a Butler Trust Award in recognition of their contribution towards encouraging effective care for offenders.
The course is highly interactive and is structured in such a way as to focus on the responsibilities of Young Offenders as fathers and to build stronger links with their partners.
The parenting course is run over 7 sessions totalling 36 hours
Topics covered in the programme include:
* Raise awareness of childbirth via video footage
* Highlight the needs of young children.
* The role of parents in the family.
* Record young father’s story telling from children’s books
* Health and safety
* First aid
* Promote effective communication skills.
* Impact of offending on the family unit
