The visits waiting room has toilet and baby change facilities.  All belongings, except loose change, must be placed in a locker before entering the visit room, lockers require £1 coins.

If you wish to hand in property or money hand this in to the officer at time of booking.  The minimum amount of money is £5 and the maximum is £40.  Please turn to page ? to find details of property accepted.  Receipts will be issued for money or property.  You cannot hand in any mail, it must be posted, see page ? for details on newspapers and magazines.

The Visit Room

The visit room can accommodate 11 visits at any one time.  There are vending machines selling hot and cold drinks, crisps and sweets, please ensure you have change as officers do not carry any.  You shall be called up the stairs by an officer, on entering the visit room all adults shall be searched (in accordance with rule 102 of The Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 2006).  This is done by an officer of the same sex; you will be asked if you have anything on your person which may harm either yourself or the officer.  The search will involve removing and hanging up any outer garments, opening your mouth for an oral examination and a rub down search which involves the officer giving a hands on outer clothing search.

You have the opportunity to refuse this search but please be aware that declining will result in you being refused entry to the visit room.

The officer shall direct you to a table where you sit and wait on the arrival of the prisoner.  Visit room rules are included in this pack; please follow them to ensure your visit runs as smoothly as possible.

Officers are available in the visit room to answer any questions you may have.
